We're Officially Woodsure Ready to Burn Certified — Jersey's Only Approved Firewood Supplier

We're proud to announce that Kiln Dried Logs Jersey is now certified under the Woodsure Ready to Burn scheme — and, having checked the official Ready to Burn register, we're currently the only Firewood Supplier in Jersey to hold this certification.

What Ready to Burn actually means

Ready to Burn is the UK's official low-emission wood fuel standard, administered by Woodsure on behalf of Defra. It's not a marketing badge — it's an independently verified certification that confirms every log we sell meets strict moisture standards (under 20%), so you get a hotter, cleaner burn with less smoke and less tar and creosote build-up in your chimney.

Getting certified means our logs, our storage, and our processes have been independently inspected and signed off against that standard — not just tested once, but held to it on an ongoing basis.

Why this matters for you

Burning wet, uncertified firewood is one of the biggest contributors to smoke pollution and chimney fires in the UK and Channel Islands. Ready to Burn certified logs:

  • Burn hotter and more efficiently, so you use less wood for the same heat
  • Produce significantly less smoke, protecting air quality for you and your neighbours
  • Reduce tar and creosote build-up, lowering chimney fire risk
  • Give you independent assurance — not just our word for it

Why we're the only one in Jersey

We checked the official Ready to Burn supplier register ourselves before making this claim, and as of today, Kiln Dried Logs Jersey is the only Jersey-based Firewood supplier listed. If you've been buying logs elsewhere on the island, there's a good chance they haven't been independently verified for moisture content.

Once approved Woodsure issues the logo with the appropriate Supplier name, number, ours is WS7675, followed by a code for the type of certified product, 00001 is Firewood / Hardwood, 00002 is Kindling. This issued logo containing the additional product detail is the only permitted logo approved suppliers can display, so if you're looking elsewhere that doesn't contain these codes, it's likely not certified and a generic one could be being used across all products.

Our Kiln Dried Hardwood Logs (00001) & Kindling (00002) have been independently lab tested and all came in between 8%-15% moisture content, lower than the 20% threshold, and far lower than any locally seasoned wood which normally sits around 30-40% or greater.

There's some great videos on Woodsure's website explaining exactly what that difference can make. Check this out, and watch the video.
